Most families choose to have their session at home or somewhere meaningful to them — the park where you spend weekends, the beach you love, or just your own backyard. I’ll help you pick a spot that feels natural for your family. Taking your photos at home or nearby means you have everything you need on hand and can just relax and be yourselves – perfect for newborns and families with little kids. The soft light in the early morning (around sunrise) or late afternoon (about an hour before sunset) is beautiful for outdoor sessions. If we’re at your home indoors, mid-morning is a good time — we can find the best-lit spots inside and work around your family’s routine. Morning or afternoon, it’s most important that everyone’s fed, rested, and feeling good.

Family sessions run for about an hour to an hour and a half. That gives us time for everyone to relax and for me to capture a variety of real-life moments, without feeling rushed or overwhelming. Extended family sessions run for about an hour and half to so there’s enough time to capture different family combos and individuals.

Keep it simple and comfortable. Neutral colours, earthy tones, soft textures, and layers work beautifully. It’s best to avoid bright, clashing colours and bold prints that draw the eye away from what’s most important — you! Choose clothes you can move in, that reflect your family’s style. The most important thing is that you feel like yourselves. I’ll send you a guide with tips before your session.

Mini session pricing starts at $400 and includes the booking fee, the shoot itself plus a selection of high-resolution images. You can choose from three different packages that include either 10, 20 or all the images in your gallery and some packages include print credit to get you started. There is a $300 booking fee to secure your date, with the balance due a week before your shoot. You can always upgrade your package if you would like to purchase more images and print credit. Life happens! If the weather isn’t cooperating or little ones are unwell, we’ll reschedule for another day. I keep a few backup dates aside for this reason.

That’s completely normal — and honestly, some of the best photos come from those silly, unplanned moments. I’m a mum to two wild, silly beautiful kids and I get it! The most important thing is to be ready to get silly together — toss them in the air, chase them and tickle them, do nose-rubs and get in close for squishy cuddles. I’ll gently guide when needed, but mostly I let your kids be themselves. It can be helpful to plan your session around a couple of activities like walking the dog or watering the garden, and include snack time (strawberries and watermelon are my pick) for some extra energy. My style of photography works because kids don’t have to behave and sit still. I’ll make sure I get any must have photos, then we can go from there. Within about 3 weeks, you will receive an email from me letting you know that your photos are ready to select, print and share. You have a full month to choose the specific digital files and print items you want to use to fill your collection.

Yes! Almost all of my packages include print credit to get you started, because there’s nothing worse than having your beautiful images sitting around on a hard drive gathering digital dust! You’ll be able to order professional-quality prints, canvases, frames and keepsake albums from some of Australia’s finest print labs straight from your gallery, delivered directly to your door. I can help with recommendations if you’d like pieces for your home.

You’re absolutely welcome to print your included images elsewhere, however using a professional print lab will ensure accurate colours and the best quality and longevity for your most important memories. Investing in a gorgeous, framed family photo that you can appreciate every time you walk by is definitely worthwhile. As a guide, loose prints start from $65, matted prints from $95, frames and canvases from $450.

I understand privacy is an increasing concern for some of my clients and do my best to balance these concerns with the need to market my business. With permission from my clients, I occasionally share beautiful images from sessions on my website, social media, and other portfolio or marketing spaces. This helps me to show my work to new clients and grow my business. I always do this thoughtfully and with care. As a token of appreciation, I offer an additional $50 print credit to families who are happy to sign a model release and consent for me to share their sessions.

I offer different options for sharing such as:

• sharing any images from the session
• sharing only images where faces are not clearly visible (eg back to camera, from a distance, side profiles, overhead shots, details)
• sharing only small details (things like hands and feet, no faces visible, heavily cropped)
• no images shared publicly
