Inner West Family Photographer – Afternoon Bike Ride by the Cooks River, Earlwood
Learning to ride a bike is one of those unforgettable moments in life. The absolute exhilaration of riding fast with the wind whipping through your hair and everything you pass is a blur stirs up memories for me. At age 6, I remember taking off down the grassy hill at the local park only to crash into a collection of rubbish bins at the bottom with Mum yelling, “Use the brake!” behind me. Still I got back on and continue to ride today. Incidentally, I’m looking forward to the opening of the Inner West Council’s Greenway project and many more bike rides with my kids.
It’s exciting and slightly scary when kids are off and riding bikes under their own steam. So it was with pleasure that I documented these champion fledgling bike riders revelling in their newfound freedom to explore the world. These kids were full of energy with huge smiles the entire shoot. This session definitely kept me on my toes running after these speedsters – it was so much fun! There was also dancing, piggy back rides, air-time and big squashy cuddles with mum and dad, and of course, Poppy the dog. I love the playful connection and undeniable joy you can really feel in these images. Down by the Cook’s River enjoying the autumn afternoon sunshine – it’s the perfect place for a family session.
Learning to ride a bike is a right of passage and a huge milestone that deserves to be photographed. If you’d like to capture a special moment in time for your family, click here to get in touch.
